Lifestyle Change: Day 5 of 70 – Happiness Is My Own Responsibility!

I had an argument recently with my significant other. The argument was rooted in the essence of invisibility. People claim to want to be in a relationship with you, but then they make decisions without your input, hence, making you invisible. I was mad, angry about the issue, especially since this wasn’t the first time that we’ve had the conversation. And as I journaled today, my breakthrough came to me.

Here’s my breakthrough of the day:

It doesn’t matter who you are in a relationship with or who you work for, or how many kids you have, happiness is your own responsibility. You cannot rely on family, friends, partners or children to make you happy. Getting to Happy is something you must do for yourself each and everyday. If your significant other stands in your way on your road to happiness, push him/her to the side. If your boss stands in your way on your road to happiness, ignore him/her. Happiness is your right to have.

One thing I decided to do today in support of my happiness: I’m getting a pen pal. That’s right. I’m going to start writing letters to someone who appreciates them! It’ll make me feel good and hopefully, it’ll make that person feel good as well. I like blessing people through words, so I think this is just PERFECT!

Have you ever had a pen pal? If so, how was the experience???

    Very true!

I had a pen pal in middle school and high school. It was actually someone I had met in real life, but I only had a chance to see them every year or so. We wrote regularly and it was really a great experience. We both genuinely looked forward to reading each others letters and it always improved my mood.
