Lifestyle Change: Day 64 of 70 – Act Like You Believe

The greatest lesson in making the transition from author to award winning filmmaker is how I act on a daily basis. For years and years, I’ve written screenplays that I believe are quite good. But, I registered them with the Writer’s Guild, told a few people about them and didn’t really act on them to get them turned into real movies. Little by little I started to realize that my desires in becoming a legitimate filmmaker had to be backed by real actions, not just feel good quotes or ideas in my head, or screenplays in my desk. So, here’s my breakthrough of the day:

You can say that you believe in something. You can say that you believe in yourself. But do you act like it? You can say that you one day want to become a singer, but would your actions also indicate the same? When no one is looking to you act as if the things that you believe are already true? That’s a serious question that we must ask ourselves. I used to dream about being a filmmaker and then I started to do the work of a filmmaker. Doing the work legitimizes your efforts, dreaming about the work fantasizes everything. Actions begin with the single step. Those steps don’t even have to be big, they just have to be steps.

Act like you believe. You told somebody about it, maybe you wrote about what you want to do in your journal, but now its time for you to start acting on it-one step at a time.
