In case you missed it: Good Advice For Independent Women

Me and host Mandrell Birks

Ya’ll know I love me some radio airwaves and so I had a good time with Mandrell Birks today on the Sighlent Storm radio show. We talked about the independent woman. A couple of gems that I dropped:

  1. Obsession with being an Independent Woman gives birth to the Angry Woman! Hello. Sometimes we cling on to being independent so much that we don’t want to lean on Anybody. Then the pressure of being independent makes us ANGRY. Hello… Am I talking to anybody out there.
  2. Independent means you’ve been able to achieve a certain amount of success on your own, but it does not mean that you don’t need anybody. Just because a partner isn’t paying your bills doesn’t mean that he doesn’t support you in other ways.
  3. Fellas: Don’t buy into the hype that an independent woman doesn’t need you. Sistas: Don’t buy into the hype that if a man doesn’t make the EXACT same amount of money or MORE that you make that you don’t need him. These incorrect assumptions are leaving a lot of people single. Hello!
  4. Go to therapy. Most of us need it. Sign yourself up. Take your baggage into the room and leave it there. You’ll feel better.

PS. Big Shout Out to Austin – You know why! Thanks for having my back!

Powerful words as always Yasmin. There is an old saying that simply says, No man (or woman) is an island. Everybody needs somebody. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Your #1 fan,
