Sex Tapes: Why do we care so much? (Photo)

I’m stumped by the American fascination with the sex tape. I’m surprised at how the sex tape has launched so many careers. When I hear that someone has a sex tape, I immediately think, “And?” I don’t think stuff like, “He or she MUST have TALENT.” I don’t think, “That’s the person that I want selling me shoes, makeup, shampoo, etc.” I don’t think, “That’s the person who I ABSOLUTELY must see on a REALITY TV show.” The fascination with the sex tape? I don’t get it. I don’t know why people care so much about the sex tape. I don’t understand why it makes someone so popular. I do not get this.

I’m not saying someone who has a sex tape isn’t talented, but I’m also saying just because they have a sex tape doesn’t make them talented either.

Anyway, I’m bringing these issues up because it was recently reported on TMZ’s site and CarltonJordan’s site that celebrated actor, Laurence Fishburne’s 19 year old daughter, Montana, has a hardcore porn video that will be released by Vivid Entertainment soon.  Montana who is also known as “Chippy D” was quoted as saying, “I’ve watched how successful Kim Kardashian became and I think a lot of it was due to the release of her sex tape.”

To that I say, “I hope it works out for her, because if it doesn’t she’ll probably have a bunch of self-esteem problems to go along with not being able to find a job.”  We all have to remember: A soul-less people is a hope-less people. A person without a soul, is a person without hope.  Many sex workers, strippers, and prostitutes have all testified to how their work has stripped them of their very essence. So…
