Just Read: Alex Cross’s Trial (New Tip for Writers)

I just finished the novel Alex Cross’s Trial by James Patterson. I was expecting a book about Alex Cross being on trial and instead I got a family history of some Cross family members and the trial that the Cross family was involved in. It was a trip. I enjoyed the book, but its very hard for me to read a book that takes place in the 1900′s and details lynchings of African Americans. No matter how much time has passed that is an ugly part of US history. Reading about it 100 years later makes it no more palpable to me. I detest that period in this nation’s history. I, nonetheless, appreciate writers like James Patterson and Guy Johnson who eloquently write tales that take place in this era. At times I’ve learned more from historic novels than an actual history textbook.

New Tip for writers: A lot of people wonder how an author can finish a book so quickly. Well, here’s the tip. Write 10 pages a day. If your book is 300 pages, you’ll be done in 30 days. Can you focus on just 10 pages a day??? The professional writers can.
