break

Is anyone out there feeling stressed out? Is anyone feeling like they need a break? Well, you are not alone.

We need to give ourselves permission to do nothing!

For the last several weeks, I’ve felt an unusually high amount of stress. I’ve been learning new ways to promote my books. I’ve been dealing with education issues with my daughter. And, I’ve been managing my health. I recently learned that I should be on a gluten free diet. Anyway, I’ve been feeling stress and it hasn’t been going away like I’d prefer.

This weekend I had planned to work straight through. I was going to work two 8 hour days. I had a backlog of work to do and I wanted it to get done. But, somewhere between Friday night and Sunday afternoon, I’d given myself permission to do nothing. I decided that instead of working on both Saturday and Sunday, I’d enjoy myself. I’d relax. I’d enjoy hanging with my hubby.

Thanks to giving myself permission to do nothing, I had one of the best weekends that I’ve had in a long time. I worked out on both days. I walked after dinner. We had lunch and dinner out. We simply had a good time. One thing that I appreciated most of all about this weekend, is that I noticed that my stress reduced. I was simply enjoying life for life’s sake.

Giving myself permission to do nothing blessed me in two ways:

  1. It fueled me to face the tasks that I have up ahead.
  2. It has given me power to face the upcoming week.
  3. It made me happy. I was able to do some things that I enjoyed.

I think in our “busy-ness” we forget that sometimes its doing nothing that helps us the most. We need to give ourselves a break every now and then. There is a reward in doing absolutely nothing.

Give yourself permission to do nothing… Try it and tell me how it works for you.

Peace & Love,
Yasmin
