meditationI started unofficially meditating about 7 years ago. Around that time I began to take Yoga classes and I would clear my mind/meditate during the classes. About 1 year ago, though, I really started focusing on meditation only without adding yoga to it. I’d take 5, 10 or even 20 minutes and sit with some peaceful music on with a candle burning. Here’s what I notice when I meditate:

  1. I immediately have more focus. If I meditate to start off my day, I have razor sharp focus for quieting my mind before I get started.

  2. I sleep better. If I meditate at the end of my day, I sleep so well. It is almost as if calming your mind down tells the Sandman to bring it on. I can’t explain it, I just know that it works.

  3. It relieves my stress. If I am upset about something, meditation allows me to release the anger from my spirit. It feels great that I can access an outlet that will allow me to release when I will myself to do it. For much of my life, I did not know how to control my anger. Through meditation, I’ve actually learned to control it.

So, the question is: Do you want to be more focused? Do you want to sleep better? Do you want to relieve your stress? If you can answer yes to one of those questions, meditation would likely do you a lot of good.
