PARTYING IN TORONTO
My team and I finished up the Growing Up Positive film and I’ve spent the last couple of days in Toronto. On this Friday the 13th, the Toronto Black Film Festival premiered Growing Up Positive at the Carlton Theater. It was a wonderful event. There were questions and the audience was attentive and asked lots of questions at the Q&A.
Producing this film was one of the hardest things that I’ve ever done for a multitude of reasons, but I’m so glad that I stuck with it and finished it.
You ever have something that is really difficult and you begin to doubt yourself? Well, I experienced that and more with Growing Up Positive, but the way the audience laughed and enjoyed the film was worth all the anguish I endured to complete the film.
So, I just wanna say, if you’re going through something difficult, push on. You can do it. It’ll be worth it in the end.
Growing Up Positive is currently touring colleges raising HIV/AIDS awareness. If you wanna know more about the film, let me know. email me YShiraz AT YasminShiraz dot net.
