I wanna say congratulations to Viola Davis for her Emmy win last night!!! She is the first black woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Shonda Rhimes, “How To Get Away With Murder.”

Her speech reached out to people of color who often have the talent but not the opportunities. I love people who recognize that we are not without talent, but are often without opportunity. She quoted Harriet Tubman in her speech. A clip of her speech is below at the link. I hope you enjoy it. Go Viola! Go Shonda!

Congratulations to Regina King and Uzo Adoba as well!

I also want to congratulate Regina King an Uzo Udoba for their wins as well. Regina King won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in “American Crime” and Uzo Udoba won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work in “Orange Is The New Black.” It’s Uzo’s second Emmy win.

It’s worth mentioning that the producer of “How To Get Away With Murder” is Shonda Rhimes who is African American and the creator of “American Crime” is John Ridley who is also African American.

So, to the people who see that we are more than our skin color, I applaud you.ย  People of color have talent and can bring it to the screen, to the stage and to the page. For those who continue to see the world one way: people of color are not limited, so please stop limiting us.

Peace & Love,
